A plain guide for parents to the SEAG Statement of Outcomes, the re-mark window and the steps from results to a Year 8 place, with the official dates for the September 2027 transfer.
Checked against SEAG and Department of Education guidance on 15 October 2026.
SEAG plans to release results on the morning of Saturday 23 January 2027. There's no letter or email with the scores. You log in to the SEAG account you used to register and view or download your child's Statement of Outcomes.
If you can no longer get into the email address on the account, the recovery email you may have added at registration is the way back in. Once logged in, you can also message SEAG through the account if you need help.
The Statement of Outcomes has five main outcomes. Schools mostly use the first two.
The English SAS plus the Maths SAS. It ranges from 138 to 282, with an average of 200.
Where your child's result falls among everyone who sat the assessment that year. Band 1 is the highest.
One score per subject, each ranging from 69 to 141 with an average of 100. They take account of age, correct answers and how hard the papers were.
Another way of showing how your child compares with everyone who sat the assessment.
| Band | Cohort percentile |
|---|---|
| Band 1 | 60% or higher (top 40%) |
| Band 2 | 50 to 59% |
| Band 3 | 40 to 49% |
| Band 4 | 30 to 39% |
| Band 5 | 20 to 29% |
| Band 6 | Below 20% |
The percentiles for each Band stay the same every year, but the TSAS that falls into each Band can vary slightly from year to year. You also get raw scores, including how your child did on Paper 1 and on Paper 2. A result followed by "e" (for example, Band 3e) is an estimate for a child who sat only one paper.
More detail in how SEAG scoring works.
You can ask for Paper 1, Paper 2 or both to be re-marked by hand. Requests open on Monday 25 January 2027 and close on Wednesday 3 February 2027. SEAG will not accept requests after that.
A re-mark costs £20 per paper, or £40 for both. The fee is refunded if the re-mark changes the TSAS, whether up or down.
SEAG provides the results but has no part in admissions. Places are decided through the post-primary transfer process run by the Education Authority (EA). Each school's Board of Governors decides how it uses SEAG outcomes: some use TSAS, some use Bands and some use both.
Results day can bring relief, disappointment or a bit of both, for parents as much as children. Whatever the letter says, a few things help.
Results for the November 2026 transfer test are planned for the morning of Saturday 23 January 2027. There's no letter: you log in to the SEAG account you registered with to view and download your child's Statement of Outcomes.
Log in to your SEAG account on seagni.co.uk from the morning of 23 January 2027. If you added a recovery email at registration, you can use it if you can no longer get into your main email account.
The Total Standardised Age Score (TSAS), the Band (1 to 6), the English (or Gaeilge) SAS, the Maths SAS and information about the cohort percentile ranking. It also includes raw scores, such as how many questions were answered correctly in each subject and how your child did on Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Yes. Re-mark requests can be made online from Monday 25 January to Wednesday 3 February 2027. A re-mark costs £20 per paper, or £40 for both, and is done by hand. The fee is refunded if the re-mark changes the TSAS, up or down.
For September 2027 entry, the Education Authority online application opens at 12 noon on Wednesday 27 January 2027 and closes at 12 noon on Wednesday 3 March 2027. Parents are told the outcome on Saturday 8 May 2027.
There is no limit. The Department of Education advises listing at least four schools in order of preference, including at least one non-grammar school, and reading each school’s admissions criteria first.
SEAG cannot change marks for illness. Academically selective schools usually include special circumstances in their admissions criteria, so you raise it as part of the post-primary application, with supporting evidence, following each school’s published criteria.
If a younger child sits the test in November 2027, the free gap check is a gentle first look at where they are in English and maths.
